Many doctors who practice more natural forms of medicine (naturopaths, holistic, environmental, and other practitioners) use Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) with their patients – considering it both safer and more effective than artificial hormone replacement.
There is no doubt that proper hormone balance is key to maintaining good mental health. Many women find BHRT to be quite effective in this area, yet Congress continues to threaten to place a ban on this form of treatment. Women who choose this natural method need not have bureaucrats deciding what’s in their best interest.

What is the BHRT National Congressional Call-In Day?
HOMECoalition.org, a project of AAHF, is joining the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists and other groups in a nationwide call-in campaign to protect our access to estriol and bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT.
The FDA and drug companies are trying to rob patients and physicians of a choice in hormone treatments. In early 2008, FDA instituted a policy that effectively bans the compounding of hormone treatments containing estriol.
House Congressional Resolution 342 and Senate Congressional Resolution 88 call on the FDA to stop its new policy of restricting women’s access to prescriptions containing estriol. These bills also call on the FDA to respect the physician-patient relationship and recognize that doctors, not the FDA, are in the best position to determine which medications are appropriate for their patients.
Not all Senators and Representatives are aware of the FDA’s new policy and the effect it will have on women’s health. On Wednesday, September 10, the BHRT National Congressional Call-In Day will flood Capitol Hill with phone calls from concerned constituents urging their representatives in Congress to sign on to their respective Congressional resolution.
